Situated in the rocky Canadian shield, Samantha Vanderwyst and her husband Jason have taken a forgotten bit of land with a sleepy old barn and turned it into a year-round working homestead. They plant, grow and harvest numerous vegetable gardens, collect seeds, manage the pastures while also tending to the fruit orchard and perennial flower gardens, chickens, sheep, and facilitate the homeschooling of their children. Theirs is a partnership which, in every action taken, supports and strives for deeper self-sufficiency, creativity in all aspects of living, and a commitment to both simplicity and the sacred plot of land which they love so dearly.
